Comprehension and use of financial information in making choices are based, in large part, on the difficulty of the material and the competencies that the individual possesses, such as financial knowledge (literacy), ability (numeracy), and motivation. Decision Research Principal Investigators aim to better understand how people reach decisions about issues affecting their economic status in old age and inform how public policy can educate or otherwise help people align decisions with their long-term objectives.
